Evangelicalism necessitates evangelism

James Leo Garrett Jr., arrived at a similar conclusion. The dean of Southern Baptist theologians said evangelicals “insist upon the supremacy of Scripture, the all-sufficiency of the divine-human Jesus Christ, the necessity of the transforming experience of being born anew or justified by grace through faith, and the inner compulsion to share one’s faith in Christ with those who do not believe.”9

Johnston postulated a definition which accounted both for the movement’s center and divisions. “Evangelicals,” he wrote, “are those who believe the gospel is to be experienced personally, defined biblically, and communicated passionately.”10 These practices appear to be what bring evangelicals together.
