The Huntsman Spider
Although scary looking it is a very timid spider. It grows to about the size of your open hand.
Often you find them in your house where they eat cockroaches and other spiders.
They can be much scarier when they crawl across the inside of your windscreen in your car in front of you as you drive down the freeway. It is worse when it then crawled on the roof and dropped onto my head and crawled under the seat.
In PNG one crawled up the leg of an MAF pilot as he was taking off from the Baiyer River air strip north of Mt Hagan. You should have seen the Cessna rock and roll. Several friends on the flight said it was the scariest moment of their lives.
