Your Final Examination Rewards in Heaven

I am going to speak to you about a very serious subject.
Misconceptions. Judgement of Christians.
Doesn’t Calvary cover it all? God disciplines justified Christians but as part of our permanent entry into heaven that we will be examined personally by God.
Our Works have no merits in heaven anyway. God is interested. Jesus makes them acceptable to God, but everything is tainted anyway. 1 Peter 2: 5to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Isn’t it selfish to seek for rewards? I’d be happy for a little shack. Funny these are the very ones not happy with a little shack here below. So you don’t want to please Jesus?
Rom 14:10 But you, why do you criticize your brother? Or you, why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. Bema judgement of rewards as in Olympic games.
a. Rewards Do Not Negate Salvation By GraceJohn 5:24 “I assure you: Anyone who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life.
b. Salvation by Grace Does Not Negate Rewards For the Faithful.
Heaven wonderful for all but more wonderful for some.
Theodore Epp Present labor and future rewards. Christ must live through us, for permitting Christ to live through us He rewards us. We are not taking away from the grace of God.
We get to heaven by grace and are rewarded for allowing Christ to live through us by grace
It does have consequences whether we live for the Lord or not.
1. The Bema Seat FOCUS 2 Cor 5:9 Therefore, whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to be pleasing to Him.
A Legitimate Motivation
2Cor 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or bad.
Heb 11: By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter 25 and chose to suffer with the people of God rather than to enjoy the short-lived pleasure of sin. 26 For he considered reproach for the sake of the • Messiah to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, since his attention was on the reward. By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter 25 and chose to suffer with the people of God rather than to enjoy the short-lived pleasure of sin. 26 For he considered reproach for the sake of the • Messiah to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, since his attention was on the reward.
A terrific motivation!
Characteristics of this judgment: 1Cor 3 :10-15 According to God’s grace that was given to me, as a skilled master builder I have laid a foundation, and another builds on it. But each one must be careful how he builds on it, 11 because no one can lay any other foundation than what has been laid—that is, Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or straw,
each one’s work will become obvious, for the day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire; the fire will test the quality of each one’s work. 14 If anyone’s work that he has built survives, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned up, it will be lost, but he will be saved; yet it will be like an escape through fire.
Bushfires.. all that’s left standing is the chimneys.
Same with you, your works burnt up, and only what’s worthwhile will be left.
Its as if the building is burning and the house is about to collapse. Some in heaven will smell like they were bought at a fire sale.
a. Its Compulsory
b. We will be judged fairly For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. The one who Judges us is the One who loves us. He does desire that we do well. Explanations? Can we put our own spin on things? I am sure that we would have the opportunity to speak but it would be smart for us not to. All things lie naked before Him. It will be accurate. Just and true are Thy ways thou King of the nations Rev 15:3 They sang the song of God’s servant Moses, and the song of the Lamb: Great and awe-inspiring are Your works, Lord God, the Almighty; righteous and true are Your ways, King of the Nations. 4 Lord, who will not fear and glorify Your name? Because You alone are holy, because all the nations will come and worship before You, because Your righteous acts have been revealed.
We are judged by our Saviour, we are judged by our brother. We will be judged from the time of our second birth.
c. We will be judged individually so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or bad. Rom 14:10 For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. … 12 So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Just you and Jesus. Matthew 25:19 “After a long time the master of those • slaves came and settled accounts with them. 20 The man who had received five talents approached, presented five more talents, and said, ‘Master, you gave me five talents. Look, I’ve earned five more talents.’ 21 “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful • slave! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Share your master’s joy!’
Public? Could well be.. but only one thing will matter, what Jesus thinks.
d. We will be judged thoroughly I don’t think everyone will hear “Thou good and faithful servants.”
2 Cor 5:10 so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or bad.
1Cor 3:13 because it will be revealed by fire; the fire will test the quality of each one’s work.
1 Cor 4:5 Therefore don’t judge anything prematurely, before the Lord comes, who will both bring to light what is hidden in darkness and reveal the intentions of the hearts. And then praise will come to each one from God. I have seen Christians deal so badly with other Christians in this life. Do I think a man who has treated others so badly will just swing into heaven without a care? God wouldn’t be just.
2. The Bema seat FACTS
Why live well for the Lord after we are saved. If complacent and out and out, then why give unreservedly to the Lord. Heaven won’t be the same experience for the complacent as for the out and out. It will be the same place, but mark it well it will not be the same experience
These Rewards Differ In Quality Hebrews 10: 32 Remember the earlier days when, after you had been enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings. 33 Sometimes you were publicly exposed to taunts and afflictions, and at other times you were companions of those who were treated that way. 34 For you sympathized with the prisoners and accepted with joy the confiscation of your possessions, knowing that you yourselves have a better and enduring possession. (in heaven) 35 So don’t throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.
The Quality Of The Reward is Better than the Sacrifice Made. 2 Cor 4:17 For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory. 18 So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen; for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Rev 2 and 3 Pictures of what He will do for us.
Whatever was given up there is something exceedingly better
1Tim 6:17 Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be arrogant or to set their hope on the uncertainty of wealth, but on God, who richly provides us with all things to enjoy. 18 [Instruct them]to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, willing to share, 19 storing up for themselves a good foundation for the age to come, so that they may take hold of life that is real.
Gardener and woman escorted in to Paradise. Limo to drive them to mansions.
Lets gardener off first huge mansion.. Didn’t send us up much to work with.
Matthew 25 :21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Share your master’s joy!’
There Will Be Special Positions2Tim 2:12 if we endure, we will also reign with Him; if we deny Him, He will also deny us;
Rev 2:26 The victor and the one who keeps My works to the end: I will give him authority over the nations—
1 Cor 6: 2 Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest cases? 3 Do you not know that we will judge angels—not to speak of things pertaining to this life?
Luke 12: 33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Make money-bags for yourselves that won’t grow old, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 35 “Be ready for service and have your lamps lit.
36 You must be like people waiting for their master to return from the wedding banquet so that when he comes and knocks, they can open [the door]for him at once. 37 Those • slaves the master will find alert when he comes will be blessed. • I assure you: He will get ready, have them recline at the table, then come and serve them. 38 If he comes in the middle of the night, or even near dawn, and finds them alert, those slaves are blessed. 41 “Lord,” Peter asked, “are You telling this parable to us or to everyone?” 42 The Lord said: “Who then is the faithful and sensible manager his master will put in charge of his household servants to give them their allotted food at the proper time? 43 That • slave whose master finds him working when he comes will be rewarded. 44 I tell you the truth: he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 45 But if that slave says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and starts to beat the male and female slaves, and to eat and drink and get drunk, 46 that slave’s master will come on a day he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers. 47 And that slave who knew his master’s will and didn’t prepare himself or do it will be severely beaten. 48 But the one who did not know and did things deserving of blows will be beaten lightly. Much will be required of everyone who has been given much. And even more will be expected of the one who has been entrusted with more.
Mark 10:40 But to sit at My right or left is not Mine to give; instead, it is for those it has been prepared for.”

HAIL, happy saint, on thine immortal throne, Possest of glory, life, and bliss unknown;
We hear no more the music of thy tongue, Thy wonted auditories cease to throng.
Thy sermons in unequall'd accents flow'd, And ev'ry bosom with devotion glow'd;
There Will Be Special Provisions•“crown of exultation” (1 Thess 2:19) For who is our hope, or joy, or crown of boasting in the presence of our Lord Jesus at His coming? Is it not you?
•“crown of life” (James 1:12) Blessed is a man who endures trials, because when he passes the test he will receive the crown of life that He has promised to those who love Him.
•“crown of righteousness” (2 Tim 4:8) In the future, there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved His appearing.
•“crown of glory” (1 Peter 5:4) And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.
There Will Be Special Pleasure Heb 11:35 Women received their dead raised to life again. Some men were tortured, not accepting release, so that they might gain a better resurrection,
Over comer gets closer and closer to the Lord a pillar in the temple
Rev 3: 21 The victor: I will give him the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I also won the victory and sat down with My Father on His throne.
Symbolic of a close intimacy with Him.
Phenomenal for all but not the same for everyone
Filled to brim with joy of the Lord but not all have the same size cup.
Basis of rewards There are 3 primary areas that I can see:Sanctification Fellowship2 Peter 1:5 added
added 11 For in this way, entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly supplied to you.
Victorious athlete walked through a new hole in the wall, a new gate, made for him alone. He was exempt from taxes. He received a rich welcome and reward
Suffering Faithfulness James 1:12 Blessed is a man who endures trials, because when he passes the test he will receive the crown of life that He has promised to those who love Him.
Its going to cost you in prestige Not worth working 80 hours a week in a job.. so will serve the Lord.
Its going to cost you in money
Its going to cost you in Relationships
Its going to cost you in terms of physical exhaustion Labour to point of exhaustion
Its going to cost you in terms of Social prestige
SACRIFICE FruitfulnessPeter: We’ve left all to follow you Matthew 19:27 Then Peter responded to Him, “Look, we have left everything and followed You. So what will there be for us?” 28 Jesus said to them, “I assure you: In the Messianic Age, when the • Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me will also sit on 12 thrones, judging the 12 tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses, brothers or sisters, father or mother, children, or fields because of My name will receive 100 times more and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.
1 Cor 9:24 Do you not know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. 25 Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. However, they do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one. 26 Therefore I do not run like one who runs aimlessly, or box like one who beats the air. 27 Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

3. The Bema Seat FEAR 2 Cor 5:11 Knowing, then, the fear of the Lord, we persuade people. We are completely open before God, and I hope we are completely open to your consciences as well.
Rewards are an encouragement for faithfulness.
Rewards are a warning to the complacent
You could lose the approval of Jesus. You may not hear “well done thou good and faithful servant”
Dianne Sawyer Billy Graham interview : “I’d like to hear well done thou good and faithful servant, but I don’t think I will”
Beggar saw Rajah coming along the road Beggar thought maybe he’ll gove me something held up rice bowl rajah said beggar give me some of your rice.
In anger he gave one grain of rice and gave it to rajah. Give me more.. one more grain one more grain. The beggar got up and left in a huff. The Rajah rode away. A little bit later he looked into his bowl of rice and saw something glitter. A grain of gold the size of a grain of rice. He found only 3.
Give all that you have to Jesus your future your aspirations He is incredibly generous For every grain he will give you a grain of gold that will withstand the fire.
Its sort of like thinking about your superannuation! Make sure you have enough.. in eternity.
